So much of art lies in trying to convey a single life - what it is to suffer, to struggle, to triumph. To lose family or to find it. And even to convey things other people can't see, but are still deeply true anyway (intuition, faith, belief). A machine can't do that, because a machine has never experienced what it is to feel hated or loved, and a machine can't have a NDE or glimpse the divine. It can only compile bits and pieces of ideas that a human had once before and then recompile them into some other shape. Which can be useful for a human artist! But it's not art by itself, right?

I think it can provide *ingredients*, the same way you'd buy sugar or flour at the store. But it can't bake a birthday cake the way a loving parent would.

Congrats on your new release!

Well said! And you're right: it can provide pieces but it's not art by itself. That's why I can't completely close the book on AI. There very well could be a useful, ethical way to use it that doesn't exploit artists and people who enjoy art. In its current state, however, it's a big NO from me.

What really makes me mad about all the ai stuff going around is the fact that some people misuse it HORRIBLY, a lot of people would use it to make art which can be bad because it feeds off other artists’ work or it can be used to make horribly inappropriate photos of people, my school tried to integrate it for all grades I believe but I think it’s only for the later grades or they cancelled it because of how much people would misuse it. I remember the zoom meeting I was in that it was discussed about and then I never heard anything again, I figured they learned that people could use ai to cheat in school like making essays, generating correct answers to questions on tests or quizzes and even the quick checks after each lesson. Im not fully against the use of ai though, I just think with how much people misuse it that as a society we’re doomed. I do see the good side of it though as you can use it for questions like ‘should this taste acidic?’ (Short answer: no, I put too much lemon juice) or tips on art and such like ‘how to correctly use ToonSquid’. Despite all the chaos Im glad that there’s still people doing art and animation (me included) and it makes me happy to see that art is still alive and growing too.

Thanks for posting! The fact that there are no rules and regulations scares me. And there doesn't seem to be any movement toward any type of guidelines for AI use.

It scares me too. Like how do we use it without guidelines?? It’s terrifying and unsafe 😟

Congrats on Book Three. I think I'll probably wait until I see you in person to get my signed copy, but I pledge to wear my Travbot shirt on release day.
